KEY POINTS:
It's the end of a whirlwind week for pop star Britney Spears. And in true Spears style, it's going out with a bang.
The latest developments in hurricane Britney's life see her father Jamie being handed full temporary custody over the troubled pop singer.
The ruling was passed in an LA Superior Court this morning and means the powers that be decided she is unable to care for herself or her finances.
Her father Jamie was appointed her conservator, or guardian, up until February 4, when another court hearing will take place.
Commissioner Reva Goetz reportedly granted the temporary order because she felt she didn't have adequate time to review all the material before her and wanted the weekend to mull it over.
And in another dramatic twist the Spears' also won another victory - they were granted a civil restraining harassment order against the singer's faux manager Sam Lutfi.
The restraining order will effectively bar Lutfi from going to the hospital to visit Spears.
According to theinsideronline.com, if the restraining order is petitioned, February 22 is the earliest it can be revisited.
Spears' parents have so far declined to comment to the press on latest events.

Update:
This just in...
Britney Spears has allegedly gone "ballistic" in the psych ward that she's being held in.
The singer reportedly made two calls at the UCLA Psych Ward and "went crazy on the phone after learning that her dad is now the conservator of her estate," says TMZ.com
In her favourite British accent, Spears screamed about her parents, "I'm so sick of all of this they can have the God Damn house and stick it up their f**king asses. Actually, no they can't."
At one point she screamed, "Nobody's taking my house. Who is my family?"
Word has it Spears is under the impression she'll be getting out of the psych ward today.
For the love of humanity, stay where you are Spears - it's either this or, heaven forbid, stopping the world and jumping off.

Background
Britney Spears' "manager" Sam Lutfi is convinced her mental problems stem from her parents.
"Oh boy, her family is crazy!" Lutfi told Usmagazine.com in a telephone interview this week.
"It's funny because that's what the doctors say when they meet the family," he added. "They always come back and say, 'You know, [her problems] are inherited, right?'
"It's just so sad. It's shared equally from both of her parents."
Lutfi also said Spears doesn't "trust anything that her family says? Not a g----n thing."
The cling-on said Spear's parents have orchestrated several interventions to get their daughter some help, and Thursday's drama was the latest effort.
When Spears heard her mother Lynne was in town, Lutfi says Spears asked him, "Is my mom really here?" he said, "Yeah, she's here. And she's like, 'Oh great, you know they're up to something.'"
"They show up to the house like hillbillies, texting me," Lutfi said.
"I find out that they're outside, and they go, 'You better let me in the gate, you ass.' So I go, to Britney, 'Your parents are here, let them come in and yell at you and scream at you. If anything else goes on, I'll throw you in my car and take you out of here.' She said, 'OK, fine, baby.'
"I let them in. Instead of going to see how Britney is, they come bouncing through the doors. They scream at me, 'Why the f---k are you talking to Barbara Walters?' I swear to God that's all they were saying.
"The dad pushed me in the chest and said, 'Get the f--k out of here.'
"The dad gave up and then the mom tried to talk to her, but Lynne was like, 'I gotta get my beauty sleep, I gotta get my nails done, I gotta do my hair.' It was just so sick. We made the mom stay."
Lutfi concluded that Spears suffers from "mixed state bipolar" and has suffered from it for "roughly five years."
