Cult classic film Cruel Intentions starring Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Philippe could soon be turned into a TV show.
American network NBC has bought a script and secured a commitment from the film's writer and director Roger Kumble, according to Variety.
The 1999 hit film propelled lead actors Reese Witherspoon, Ryan Philippe, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair to fame.
The TV series will follow the dark world of Bash Casey, the 16-year-old son of Annette Hargrave (played by Witherspoon in the film) and the late Sebastian Valmont (Philippe's character).
After finding his father's journal, Bash leaves small-town Kansas for a prestigious school in San Francisco, where he finds himself in a world of sex, money, power and corruption.
