Celebrities have taken to Twitter to celebrate the axing of ABC's Roseanne revival after the star posted a racist remark about Valerie Jarrett, one of former President Barack Obama's closest advisers.
In the now-deleted tweet, she called Jarrett the offspring of the "Muslim Brotherhood & Planet of the Apes". She later tweeted that she was "truly sorry for making a bad joke" and was leaving Twitter.
Despite the apology, ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey announced the network was cancelling the show: "Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values".
Many stars - some of whom were among the voices calling for the show to be canned - have supported the network's decision, including Ava DuVernay, Shonda Rhimes and Viola Davis.
Some joked that Fox was likely to pick up the series.
