The Red Hot Chili Peppers are returning to Auckland to perform at the same venue the band's sound engineer once slammed as an "echo chamber".
The Chili Peppers, one of the world's biggest rock bands, will perform at Auckland's Vector Arena on Monday, January 14 before heading to Australia for a headlining slot at the Big Day Out music festival.
The Californication rockers were last here in April, 2007 for two shows at Auckland's newest live music venue Vector Arena, gigs which were plagued by complaints about sound problems.
The venue's issues caused the Los Angeles-based band's sound engineer Dave Rat to write to the Herald, calling the venue an echo chamber that suffered from a "significant roar of reflections".
The issues have since been addressed with the use of drop cloths around the stadium, which holds around 12,500 punters when full. It was recently confirmed as one of the busiest venues of its size worldwide.
