Two stars of the Real Housewives of New Jersey have been indicted on US federal charges of bank and bankruptcy fraud.
Teresa and Giuseppe "Joe" Giudice were charged in a 39-count indictment handed up Monday in Newark, New Jersey.
The two are accused of submitting fraudulent mortgage and other loan applications from 2001 through 2008, a year before their show debuted.
US prosecutors say they made false claims about their employment status and salaries.
Joe Giudice is also accused of failing to file tax returns for the years 2004 through 2008, when he is alleged to have earned nearly $US1 million ($A1.09 million).
