Radio hosts save the day for die-hard Delta Goodrem fan

A die-hard Delta Goodrem fan is off to see her idol in Auckland tonight after two radio hosts stepped in to save the day when her plans went awry.

Karen Crotty is a double amputee and had arranged special transport up from Tauranga for Goodrem's show after winning tickets through iHeartRadio last Friday.

When those fell through at the last minute Crotty thought her dreams were dashed.

"I'm utterly devastated," the Bay of Plenty resident told the Hits hosts Stacey Morrison and Paul Flynn this afternoon.

"Her music - just even thinking about her makes me cry. She's such a beautiful person, singer songwriter, everything."

After hearing Crotty's transport had been cancelled this morning, the radio hosts decided to take matters into their own hands.

"We just couldn't stand the thought of you being so disappointed," Morrison said.

On air, they announced Tauranga Hits host Will Johnston would drive Crotty to the airport and an Auckland Hits staff member would pick her up and get her to the venue on time.

"Oh my god, thank you so much. I don't believe it," Crotty said through tears.

"Thank you so very much."

Crotty was on her way to catch her flight to Auckland by 6.30pm.
