The scene parallels Schwarzenegger's revival in 1991's Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
Brief moments flashed next during the trailer possibly reveal a military scene from the grisly distant future, where soldiers surround a structure that had a device spinning and shinning ribbons of light.
What follows is a glimpse from space that shows an attack at several locations across the globe.
And finally, Schwarzenegger is shown from behind wearing a leather jacket. The outdated Series 800-model Terminator looks at his exposed metal endoskeleton and likely assess that it needs repair.
The dramatic and quick peek at the world premiere due tomorrow will certainly pique curiosity at what's ahead since the poster's release a day earlier.
The haunting poster features the T-800 cyborg skull of a Terminator with eyes glowing red and yellowed dentures in its mouth. The face rapidly granulates from the right side of the jawline through the top of the head in an angular motion-with the right eye blinking and then fading out as the crumbled metallic pieces collect below like sand falling through an hourglass.
What remains is a portion of the face and the title of the movie Terminator: Genisys aligned to the side of the undamaged eye.
The graphic then becomes a countdown to the trailer's release tomorrow on the official site.
The sequel is set in 2029 and will see Schwarzenegger reprise his role as the Terminator, which he began in 1984. This instalment sees him train and protect a young Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke).
Her future son John Conner, played by Jason Clarke, sends his trusted lieutenant Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back in time to ensure that his mother is not killed and he survives.
Terminator: Genisys hits theatres July 1, 2015.
