It's every woman's worst nightmare, and for designer addict Victoria Beckham it was the ultimate fashion faux pas.
The former Spice Girl turned up at the MTV Movie Awards this week wearing a pair of designer silver shoes, only to find that fellow celebrity Cameron Diaz was wearing an almost identical pair.
Onlookers say the two divas briefly acknowledged each other, and looked completely stunned when they realised their sparkly footwear was virtually the same.
Victoria, 33, is said to have carefully selected her outfit for the MTV Movie Awards in Los Angeles, and was certain her skin-tight zebra print dress and $930 Christian Louboutin heels would set her apart from other fashion wannabees.
But she hadn't banked on Cameron Diaz stealing her style icon crown by trotting up in a pair of very similar Sergio Rossi shoes.
One onlooker said: "Posh looked really amazing but as soon as she noticed Cameron's shoes her jaw dropped.
"She kept smiling graciously but must have been thinking 'Of all the shoes in all the world and Cameron had to arrive in mine.'"
Despite the shoe saga, Posh and 34-year-old Cameron saw the lighter side of the fashion clash and started giggling with each other.
