Piers Morgan: Lamar Odom 'couldn't keep up with the Kardashians'

British media commentator Piers Morgan has been burned on Twitter for saying Lamar Odom's biggest tragedy is that he "couldn't keep up with the Kardashians".

It comes as the former NBA star fights for his life in a Las Vegas hospital after being found unconscious in a Nevada brothel, following what was believed to be a four day bender.

While Morgan acknowledges the sad situation and a once successful career, he is quick to judge the Kardashian clan and their reality empire for his downfall in an essay penned for The Daily Mail.

Odom married Khloe Kardashian on Keeping Up With The Kardashians in 2009 following a 30-day courtship. Within months, a spin-off show Khloe & Lamar arrived on screens.

"The Kardashians have just survived and thrived longer than their peers because they've shown greater drive, determination, smarts and creativity," Morgan wrote.

"But those sucked into their crazy world need to be very, very careful it doesn't also suck them down in the process.

"There's no ability to control the beast. Your life is public property, your human qualities and frailties exposed to millions."

He claimed, unlike the family he married into the basketballer was "too sensitive, too vulnerable" for such a fast paced and invasive lifestyle.

"Who's to blame for this shocking descent?..." Morgan asks.

"The sad, tragic truth about Lamar Odom is that he couldn't keep up with the Kardashians...And he should never have tried."

Following news of Odom's collapse, now ex-wife Khloe rushed to be by his side.

Sister Kim Kardashian West followed shortly after along with mother-manager Kris Jenner, who was pictured looking distraught outside the hospital.

Those on Twitter were quick to come to the party with alternate views to Morgan's essay, which many deemed to be written in poor taste.
