You should probably watch Luck, a horse racing/gangster saga (Soho 8.30pm) from producer Michael Mann, famed for Miami Vice, not the stupid movie, the actual 111 episode TV series.
He made some great movies too, Heat, The Insider. (He directs EP1 as well.) The cast is solid as, Dustin Hoffman, Dennis Farina, Nick Nolte, even Micheal Gambon for four episodes. Reviews are a little mixed but I'm locking it in. I think it will be well matched with a single malt whisky: Laphroaig.
I'd go for a few pints of Harrington's Ngahere Gold when watching A Shocking Reminder (8.30pm Prime) the series about the quakes that have hammered Christchurch. Luckily the Harrington's brewery survived the big shake on Feb 22 although they had to close for seven weeks due to some cracked pipes. The good news for beer fans and for their 70 staff is that sales are actually up on last year.
9.30pm tonight is looking good too. TV2 has Revenge, Emily Van Camp and Madline Stowe in what critics are calling a solid sociopathic soap opera.
It involves revenge and the Hamptons. I haven't seen it but believe it will go down well with a Pisco Sour.
