Parris Goebel's EP Vicious has released and early reactions are hugely positive

Parris Goebel released her debut EP Vicious on Friday and it's already taking over the music world.

The 10-track release features Goebel's previously released singles, including her hit Friday, which was included in Time magazine's list of "5 songs you need to listen to this week" on Saturday.

Time praised Goebel's "unapologetic, percussive hip-hop", and gave a shout out to the EP and her track Das It, saying it "takes no prisoners, in the vein of a modern-day Missy Elliott. It's music to get down to".

Goebel collaborated with a host of artists on the EP, including Kiwi favourite Sammy J, California producers Tone Stith and Jaxon, and Jamaican dancehall artist Deewun.

And it's already taking the internet by storm, with fans tweeting their hugely positive early reactions to the Kiwi star.

Goebel has also revealed her next project; she's been chosen by none other than Sir Elton John to sit on his music video judging board.

She told Seven Sharp last week that the board will choose people to create videos for some of John's biggest hits, and while his music is definitely a change of pace for the hip hop star, she's not worried.

"As a dancer, I feel . . . I can see movement to anything, fast or slow. I think anything can be done," she said.
