Hotel heiress Paris Hilton has spoken for the first time about the theft of over US$2 million of jewellery from her Los Angeles home last week, saying she is "devastated" by the incident.
The hotel heiress was left shaken by the incident which occurred between late Thursday evening and early Friday morning when burglars stole "millions of dollars of jewellery - diamonds, necklaces, rings, watches and family heirlooms from her grandmothers".
Paris, who was out with friends in Los Angeles when the theft took place, told Life and Style Weekly magazine: "I am devastated. I cannot believe someone broke into my home. They took items that had such sentimental value that no one will ever be able to replace. I'm just thankful that I wasn't there when it happened."
Paris has now reportedly increased her security following the crime, because she no longer feels safe in her property.
A source said: "Paris has upped her security team to three 24-hour bodyguards, and she has someone on her property at all times. Detectives are doing a huge investigation into the theft.
