Misery does love company, and it's sticking to perpetual party gal and socialite Paris Hilton like a limpet.
Hilton and her latest boyfriend Cy Waits have been involved in an alleged hit and run with a paparazzo.
According to TMZ, Waits was driving a Bentley outside Boa restaurant in West Hollywood yesterday when the car was swarmed by paparazzi.
Waits, with Hilton in the passenger seat, put the pedal to the metal and accelerated his way out of the scrum, knocking one of the lens lizards over on his way.
The pair then took off and didn't stop to assess any carnage. Waits later returned to the scene, spoke to police and was given a citation, according to reports.
However, a spokesperson for Waits has denied that a police citation was issued, claiming that the female photographer involved in the accident placed him under a citizen's arrest.
Cops were obligated to sign the citizen's arrest form, says TMZ.
Paramedics were called to the scene, and the paparazzo, known only as Carol, was taken to a hospital to treat a cut on her right leg.
A spokesperson for the West Hollywood Sheriff's Department has confirmed that authorities are currently investigating the incident.
Spokesman Steve Whitmore tells E! News: "The person attacked by the vehicle insisted on a private person's arrest so we cited the driver, but this is all preliminary.
"We have to re-interview the deputies as to what occurred. We are going to conduct a thorough traffic investigation."
A rep for Waits says he was initially unaware a collision had occurred, but later returned to the scene without Hilton after receiving a text message later in the evening.
"Apparently the driver did everything in his power initially to avoid anything, but the car was swarmed," Whitmore told E! News.
"As he was moving forward, everyone was told to part, and they began to, but then this one individual jumped back in front."

That's more of a 'bump and run', surely?
Hilton is placing the blame squarely at the paparazzo's feet. She
