Newlywed Anna Paquin was one of the stars to dazzle at the Emmy awards but her performances in True Blood were not enough to earn an award.
The 1960s drama Mad Men and comedy Modern Family came out top of the 62nd Emmy Awards in Los Angeles.
And while Paquin's True Blood did not make it among the winners, its stars still shone on the stage. Paquin joined husband Stephen Moyer and True Blood co-star Alexander Skarsgard to present the award for outstanding directing for a mini-series, won by Temple Grandin. The Kiwi actress' black Alexander McQueen gown, described as "warrior queen" by the Los Angeles Times, was practically gold-plated around the shoulders and bustline. Moyer opted for a classic tux and a skinny tie by the same designer.
Mad Men earned its third consecutive best drama series trophy.
