Papa don't screech: The painful moment Madonna falls down flight of stairs at Brit Awards

Madonna took a nasty tumble on stage during a live performance at the 2015 Brit Awards.

The singer toppled off a set of stairs after her dancers pulled on a long, flowing cape she was wearing. It appeared the pop diva was trying to untie the cape but wasn't quite fast enough, causing her to be pulled backwards off the staircase.

After a brief moment of shock, the singer got back up and carried on with the rest of her song, Living For Love.

It was the first time in 20 years that the Material Girl hitmaker had performed at the Brit Awards.

Madonna responded to concerned fans with a post on Instagram saying: "Armani hooked me up! My beautiful cape was tied too tight! But nothing can stop me and love really lifted me up! Thanks for your good wishes! I'm fine! "

Shocked fans took to social media to express their horror and well wishes for the singer.
