Former top model Rachel Hunter is coming out of retirement to mentor the girls on New Zealand's Next Top Model. Our Rach has scored a coveted spot as a guest judge on an upcoming episode of the show, which kicks off on Friday.
Insiders tell me series three is the best yet, largely because of the influx of divas. Think big teenage tantrums. I'm told one young lovely in particular is sure to be telly gold with her frequent outbursts. She's apparently less Dakota, and more Princess and the Pea.
She's constantly moaning "the bed is too hard"; "the sofa is too soft". No surprise Little Miss Precious hasn't made friends and influenced people in the house or with the production crew. Tears are flowing.
Meanwhile, another young lass has developed quite the crush on resident sexpot judge Chris Sisarich. She likes to take his picture and "spend time with him". A mole inside the house revealed just how far her obsession has gone.
"You wouldn't believe it," she hissed, "but she takes his photo off the wall so she can dance with him, chill out on the deck with him and share a cup of tea with him". Sounds like these girls may need less mannequin mentors and more mental health advisors.
TV3 star ties knot
Our favourite political editor Duncan Garner married his longtime girlfriend Deanna Delamere on Saturday at The Pines, overlooking Wellington's Houghton Bay. The couple, who have a 10-month-old son, Buster, chose a private wedding with close friends and family. Garner's two daughters Peti-Paerau and Te Ahipourewa, who live with their mother, Campbell Live reporter Mihingarangi Forbes, played bridesmaids, as did Delamere's two daughters from a previous relationship.

TVNZ's New York correspondent Tim Wilson is a finalist in the 2011 NZ Post Book Awards for his novel Their Faces Were Shining. He said he is grateful the judges thought enough of the book to include it. "Two years ago I was a curdled hack with a shabby apartment, a byzantine social life, and an unpublished novel in a desk draw; it's surprising how you can explain the former two away when said novel finds a place alongside the work of writers like Charlotte Grimshaw and Laurence Fernley [who are also nominated]," he said. The winners will be announced on July 27.
On the importance of being earnest
We always suspected journalists were a pretty bitchy lot, but the latest high-handed actions from Jim Tucker's newly formed Facebook Kiwi Journalists Association proves it. Seems only very serious topics may be discussed, like where to put apostrophes, when by-lines may be used, and whether journalists should call themselves professionals or artisans. It appears to be all a lot of pompous chin-stroking and navel-gazing.
No surprise it drove members Deborah Coddington and David Cohen to roll their eyes. They opted to take the mickey. Well, who could blame them? They light-heartedly suggested in response that perhaps Lord Tucker's over-touting of the Canon Awards might lead to his winning something next year for his newly hatched Facebook page. Naughty, naughty. Lord Tuck didn't take too kindly to that. The duo were summarily expelled, and accused of personally insulting remarks. So much for freedom of speech! They've since been invited back, but only if they grovel and 'befriend' his Lordship first.
