The Hobbit has been shut out at the Oscars.
The Peter Jackson-directed blockbuster was nominated for three Oscars - Best Production Design, Best Visual Effects, and Best Make-Up and Hairstyling.
It missed out on all three categories.
Best Visual Effects was taken by Bill Westenhofer, Guillaume Rocheron, Erik-Jan De Boer and Donald R. Elliott for Life of Pi, while Lisa Westcott and Julie Dartnell won Best Make-Up and Hairstyling by for Les Miserables and Rick Carter and Jim Erickson won Best Production Design for Lincoln.
Wellington production house Weta Digital made history by becoming the first film company to gain three nominations in the Best Visual Effects category since 1991.
