Oscar-winner Alan Arkin suffers mini stroke

Alan Arkin has had a "mini stroke".

The Oscar-winning actor had the health scare on Monday (09.11.15) but is now "very fine" according to a representative for the star.

Melody Korenbrot confirmed the incident to USAToday.com, saying: "He had a very mini stroke and he is very fine."

TMZ first reported the incident revealing he was hospitalised and released the following day after doctors gave him the all clear.

The 81-year-old star did not attend the premiere of his new festive film Love the Coopers - which also features Olivia Wilde and Amanda Seyfried - in Los Angeles on Thursday (12.11.15).

Alan - who has three kids and lives in California with his third wife Suzanne Newlander - shot to fame in 1966 when he won the Best Actor Golden Globe for his role as Lt. Rozanov in The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming and has since won awards for his parts in Little Miss Sunshine and Argo.

He is also known for starring in Edward Scissorhands, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter and Catch-22.

Most recently, the star - whose career spans more than 60 years - has been shooting heist comedy Going In Style with Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine, directed by Zach Braff.
