UPDATED:

TV titan

Oprah Winfrey

has weighed in on the furore surrounding

Chris Brown

's alleged attack on

Rihanna

and issued the Barbadian beauty with a grim message.

Speaking on her US chat show she sternly warned the singer that domestic violence is not a one-off occurrence,

"If a man hits you once, he will hit you again. He will hit you again."

The queen of America's talk show circuit, and noted campaigner against domestic violence, has also warned Rihanna about the possible dangers of rekindling her romance with Brown.

Rihanna - real name Robyn Fenty - was

allegedly assaulted

by Brown on the eve of last month's Grammy Awards.

Brown appeared in court last week facing charges of assault and making criminal threats, and could face up to four years and eight months in prison if convicted. A judge ordered him not to harass, threaten or harm anyone.

In an impassioned plea, the big O added:

"Both Chris Brown and Rihanna, if I were your friend, I would call you up and say give it some time. Get yourself some counselling. Take care of yourself. Heal yourself first."

Meanwhile snitches tell Britain's

that Rihanna is buckling under the media scrutiny the alleged beating has spawned.

"She's absolutely humiliated and scared to show her face in public. She feels the whole world is judging her."

The snitch added that Rihanna is "torn" between remaining loyal to boyfriend Brown and doing the right thing by her family who are said to be opposed to the reconciliation.

But the harshest judgement of all has rolled off the lips of odd-coiffed business mogul

Donald Trump,

who says Rihanna should tell Brown, "You're FIRED!"

He also reportedly imparted with some other harsh words for RiRi, warning her that she should not reconcile with Brown, saying

"She better get the hell out. If she goes back, she's a loser, and she doesn't deserve to have any future success."

What a nasty little turnip.

We're not sure what's more insulting: being called a loser, or being called a loser by a little man with the

ugliest hairstyle in the world

UPDATE:

As ideas go, it's probably one of the most nutzo ones we've heard in a while. There's a rumour doing the rounds that Chris Brown and Rihanna are not only back together, but they're busy flexing their vocal chords in the studio.

According to

E! Online

, princess RiRi and Brown are working on a duet which Brown hopes to include on his forthcoming album.

"They've been working on it together," a snitch says.

And there's more...

TMZ.com

is reporting that the woman who triggered an alleged fight between Chris Brown and Rihanna by supposedly leaving a text on his mobile was... his manager.

Tiny Tom™ rumour

The latest talk from Hollywood suggests that

Tom Cruise

and

Katie Holmes

have an unconventional way of resolving marital problems. Suffice to say their staunch committment to Scientology has a bearing on things.

Word is Cruise makes Holmes write weekly confessions about what she's been up to, including any moments of forgetfulness and naughty transgressions.

A snitch says: "Katie has to confess to something as minor as forgetting to tell him she has met with a friend.

"If she commits a transgression against the moral code of their marriage, she has to tell Tom in writing, giving full details of the time and place and what happened."

Brit-Brit's stage slip

Oops, she's done it again. Comeback princess

Britney Spears

gave audience members more than they bargained for at her comeback show in Tampa, Florida on Sunday - when she accidentally flashed her unmentionables to the audience after her leotard split.

The

Toxic

singer had just finished singing her hit

I'm A Slave 4 U

and was being lowered beneath the stage as part of her grand exit, when she let the cat out of the bag about the costume gaffe.

As she vanished beneath the stage in a cloud of pyrotechnic drama, Brit turned to members of her crew and proclaiming that she'd suffered the mother of all wardrobe malfunctions - and that her lady area was exposed. We know, we've gone redder than a baboon's bottom just thinking about it.

But here's the punchline: What Britney failed to realise was that her microphone was still on when she made the confession, and the whole arena could clearly hear her say...well, we'll leave it to your imagination.

What puzzles us is why the miming marvel had her microphone switched on in the first place.
