Kiwi opera star Madeleine Pierard has an odd way of putting her feet up after a tour, wearing a different type of shoe on each foot.
The 29-year-old spends most of her time at London's Royal Opera House, at Covent Garden. She has been home performing with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.
While here, the child cancer survivor was happy to don a training shoe and a flat to support Odd Shoe Day, on Friday, September 14. It encourages people to wear shoes that don't match, and donate a gold coin to Camp Quality New Zealand, which provides support programmes for up to 300 children living with cancer.
Pierard went to the camps after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma at the age of 5. "Camp Quality was the most effective catalyst when it came to recovering from the trauma of suffering from cancer," she said.
