KEY POINTS:
Rain might have forced Lorraine Downes and Martin Crowe to change their Valentine's Day wedding plans.
But it failed to dampen the romance for them or two other celebrity couples who tied the knot yesterday.
Former Miss Universe Downes married cricket legend Crowe in front of family and friends sheltering from the wind and rain at the enormous Omaha home of shipping millionaire Mark Ching.
A source at the wedding revealed plans to exchange vows on the beach were abandoned when the weather closed in.
Rows of white chairs set up outside the $6 million mansion were taken inside.
Downes, the winner of Dancing with the Stars in 2006, invited her former dance partner Aaron Gilmore and his wife Jaimee to attend the nuptials.
"I'm stoked, they're such a lovely couple," Gilmore said.
Downes has a son and daughter, Hilton and Jasmine, by a previous marriage to former All Black Murray Mexted, and Crowe has a daughter Emma, also from a previous relationship.
Meanwhile singer, radio DJ and reality TV star Joe Cotton also walked down the aisle to her restaurant manager and partner of four years Dan Shields. The pair were married at exclusive Kelliher House on Puketutu Island in Auckland, where former All Black Doug Howlett married Monique Everard in 2007.
Cotton, who wore a Jane Yeh dress, said she could not talk about her wedding because the pair had sold their story to a women's magazine.
By comparison TV3 comedian Jaquie Brown wed beau Guy Denniston in a low-key affair which will not be appearing in any mags.
Brown designed her own dress but would not reveal details of the big day, apart from saying the wedding would be "intimate" and "personal" and two of her four bridesmaids had travelled from England.
