They're hounded by die-hard fans wherever they go, hanging off their every word and move.
Now, British boy band One Direction hopes to use that force for good, launching a new social media campaign.
Action 1D is a new online campaign, with which they hope to encourage their fans to put pressure on world leaders about issues like climate change and poverty.
In a video posted to their YouTube channel, the band members encourage their fans to post content on social media and say what they want the future to look like.
Band member Louis Tomlinson said to fans: "Now is the time for us all to have our say, to take action and to raise our voices to show that we care."
