A tourist from New Zealand was among those who saw a stunt go wrong on the set of Nicholas Cage's latest movie yesterday.
Aimee Dodds told the New York Post she saw a Ferrari driven by a stunt man smash into a Times Square restaurant in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Dodds said she was watching the Ferrari weave through some stunt taxis before the crash.
"As the Ferrari took a right turn past one of the taxis, he took a wide turn and slammed straight into the Sbarro (restaurant)," she said.
The accident occurred during filming for Nicholas Cage's new movie The Sorcerer's Apprentice.
Another witness, British tourist Mark Watkins, told the New York Post he saw a chase between the black Ferrari F430 and a silver Mercedes.
"The Ferrari took a sharp right to the left and lost it, swerving across the lanes, taking out a lamppost and a news stand," he said.
"One lady was knocked to the ground and a lamppost landed directly on top of a chap."
Police told newsday.com two people were injured in the crash but both had been treated at Bellevue Medical Center and their injuries were not serious.
The stunt man, identified by newsday.com as Jeremy Eugene Fry, did not suffer any injuries in the crash.
Cage was not on the scene when the accident occurred shortly after 1am local time.
