Nourishing nuptials

The service industry was agog with the news that pseudo-celebrity chef Simon Gault married his hairdresser girlfriend Katrina Van Dam at a small wedding at an Auckland hotel on Friday.

A guest at the nuptials told Spy the bride's coif was the talk of the Bettjeman's crowd, where she works. The well-nourished groom, who has worked as the personal chef to Paris Hilton's Kiwi aunt Jo, chose seafood for the wedding banquet.

The TV cook is renowned as a control freak in the kitchen. He ensured his own taste-testers sampled everything before it hit the plate.

Our spy gushed: "He brought two of his own chefs to the hotel! They looked like some sort of culinary hoodlums with wraparound Gucci sunglasses on."

Gault was apparently paranoid about media intrusion on his big day. Security was arranged for the anticipated paparazzi. No snappers arrived. The man who now fronts butter advertorials on the internet will be hoping the next series of MasterChef starts quick smart so his schleb star doesn't burn out fast
