NZME's Newstalk ZB and ZM have swept many of the major prizes at this year's New Zealand Radio Awards, with Mike Hosking claiming two big awards.
Hosking was named best talk presenter (breakfast/drive) - ahead of ZB colleague Larry Williams and Radio NZ's John Campbell - and he wasalso presented with an award for an outstanding contribution to radio, for his stellar career that began at Radio Windy in Wellington as a 16-year-old.
ZM's Fletch Vaughan and Megan were named best music breakfast show, ahead of More FM and Mai, which claimed the overall Station of the Year prize.
Whakatane's 1XX won the Sir Paul Holmes Broadcaster of the Year award for its coverage of the Edgecumbe floods and aftermath.

As well as Hosking, Jay-Jay Feeney also received recognition for her own outstanding contribution to radio.
ZB hosts and producers featured prominently as winners.
Marcus Lush was named best talk presenter (other) ahead of ZB's Leighton Smith and Radio NZ's Kim Hill, while ZB's Niva Retimanu was named best newsreader for the second year running.
ZB Head of Talk Jason Winstanley and content director Nadia Tolich won the prize of best content director, and the Mike Hosking Breakfast Show producer Emily Winstanley was named best show producer. ZB's Peter Everatt was honoured for services to broadcasting, as was the voice of cricket, Bryan Waddle.

Radio Sport's Martin Devlin added to his cabinet of awards, named best sports reader, presenter or commentator.
The Radio Sport and Newstalk ZB teams capped a big night for the networks, with the prize of best sports story (team coverage) for the America's Cup campaign.
ZM also claimed the prize for best station promotion (Flochella), best marketing campaign (Secret Sound), best station trailer (Secret Sound) and best digital content. The ACC team won best client digital/social promotion.

Radio New Zealand, which returned to the awards after several years' absence, claimed the prize for best news or sport journalist (Benedict Collins) and best podcast (The 9th Floor).
