KEY POINTS:
It was a sentiment many could relate to. When MSNBC anchor Mika Brzezinski refused to read yet another Paris Hilton story yesterday morning, the world understood her pain.
But 24 hours later, many are speculating the protest was a scripted scam.
Video of the incident, which occurred on MSNBC's Morning Joe programme, has become an instant internet hit - with more than 97,000 diggs.
Over the course of three hourly news bulletins, Brzezinski became increasingly irate at leading with Paris Hilton news stories and began arguing with her producer, who was off-camera.
After snatching a lighter off her co-anchor, Brzezinski tried to set fire to the Paris script, before tearing it up. An hour later, when another Paris story crossed her desk, the news anchor stood up and proceeded to shred the script in an office shredder.
While the reporter was hailed as a hero yesterday for standing up for declining news standards, today many believe the entire incident may have been a hoax.
Internet forums and message boards have been flooded with discussions about the incident, with many suggesting it was a deliberate ploy by MSNBC to boost ratings.
Deliberate or not, there is no denying the incident struck a chord with viewers the world over. When it comes to Paris, we've all had enough.
