The fifth season of vampire series True Blood returns with a new cast of characters - but with Kiwi actress and Golden Globe winner Anna Paquin's character Sookie still the centre of tensions in Bon Temps.
Starting on Prime at 9.35pm on June 21, the series introduces vampire guardian Roman, the president of the Vampire Authority who wants co-existence between humans and vampires, along with Salome, who's intent on recreating the world in all its vampiric glory.
As a quick refresher, the fourth season ended with a series of cliffhangers, including the final scenes where Tara saved Sookie from being shot by Debbie.
But then Sookie killed Debbie, and the series ended with her cradling Tara in her arms.
As season five picks up, Lafayette helps Sookie clean up after the shootings and we meet new werewolves JD and Martha, who want a reluctant Alcide to take his role as pack-master by the scruff of the neck.
