Look out for a yellow Mini speeding across the platform if you're in Wellington Railway Station today - the remake of classic Kiwi film Goodbye Pork Pie is currently being filmed on location.
The original 1981 road movie was the biggest Kiwi film of a generation - and the Wellingtonchase scene, being shot today and tomorrow, was its most famous.
"There's lots of excitement as the actors and the yellow Mini drive across the platforms of the Wellington Railway Station," a Kiwi Rail spokeswoman said.
Originally filmed in late 1979 with just 24 cast and crew on board under the direction of Geoff Murphy, the remake is being directed by his son Matt.
The film follows 19-year-old Gerry Austin who pinches a wallet dropped by a wealthy woman, rents a yellow Mini and embarks on a road trip to Invercargill, meeting some oddball characters on the way.
Back then, the film starred Pork Pie - a yellow British Leyland Mini.
The cars are a bit more flash now - being made by BMW, for whom Matt Murphy has worked on advertising campaigns.
