Now nineteen, she delves back into the world of her childhood adventure, where she learns of her true destiny: to end the Red Queen's reign of terror.
A voiceover delivers cryptic clues about Alice's latest journey.
"When the day becomes the night, when the sky becomes the sea, when the clock strikes heavy and there's no time for tea," the voice booms.
"And in the darkest hour, before my final rhyme, she will come back home to Wonderland and turn back the hands of time."
She will face foes and meet friends new and old including The Mad Hatter's father played by Rhys Ifans' Zanik Hightopp, while the late Alan Rickman returns as Absolem.
Tim Burton steps down from the franchise and is replaced by James Bobin.
Helena Bonhan Carter reprises her role as the hot headed Red Queen and Anne Hathaway the angelic White Queen.
Stephen Fry appears as Cheshire Cat and Michael Sheen the White Rabbit.
