After 15 consecutive annual releases, the Need For Speed franchise is getting a well-earned break.
That's right - EA has announced that there will not be a Need For Speed title released this year. Until this year, a Need For Speed game had been released every year since 2002.
All told, there have been 20 Need For Speed games released since it debuted on the 3DO in 1994.
This year also saw the franchise's first film starring Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul hit the big screen.
EA CEO Andrew Wilson said his company needs to ensure it is delivering "a high-quality experience for Need for Speed players next year".
