Natalie Portman will appear as a futuristic biologist sent into an abandoned, mysterious forest in the upcoming sci-fi horror Annihilation.
Alex Garland, the man behind the acclaimed film now in cinemas Ex Machina, is set to direct the flick and has now secured his star for the film in Portman, Variety reports.
Tilda Swinton, Julianne Moore and others are reportedly chasing roles alongside Portman.
Based on the novel by Jeff VanderMeer, Annihilation follows a team of four women surveying a cordoned off territory known as Area X, although past expeditions have ended in disappearances, suicides and mental trauma.
