Carlos Munoz Portal, the location manager for hit Netflix series Narcos has been shot dead while scouting locations for season four in Mexico.
According to Spanish newspaper El Pais, a friend of Portal's said the 37-year-old was found in a vehicle hit with multiple gunshots in a rural area of Mexico, located close to the border with Hidalgo, which is known for drug-related violence.
In a statement, Netflix said: "We are aware of the passing of Carlos Muñoz Portal, a well-respected location scout, and send our condolences to his family. The facts surrounding his death are still unknown as authorities continue to investigate."
Portal was a veteran location manager, having worked in the industry for a decade. He had worked on productions like Mel Gibson's Apocalypto, Tony Scott's Man on Fire and the latest James Bond film Spectre.
