The hit musical My Fair Lady opens tonight in Auckland for a limited season.
Based on George Bernard Shaw's play Pygmalion, this romantic comedy follows linguistics professor Henry Higgins and his attempt to transform street urchin Eliza Doolittle into a lady, with some unexpected results.
The show made its Broadway debut in 1956, starring Rex Harrison and Julie Andrews. The huge success of the show then propelled it to Hollywood, where Audrey Hepburn replaced Andrews, to star alongside Harrison in the 1964 movie adaptation.
Famous songs from the show include I Could Have Danced All Night, Get Me to the Church on Time, and The Rain in Spain Falls Mainly in the Plain.
The Auckland season stars William McInnes as Henry Higgins and Taryn Fiebig as Eliza Doolittle.
Tickets are available from The Edge.
