And this weekend I'm planning on:
Mustering the willpower to go to a ballet class.
But first I'll need to refuel at my favourite cafe:
One2One on Ponsonby Rd - delicious coffee by day, delicious music by night, and maitre d's in the form of fat, cuddly cats.
Saturday evening, if my dreams came true there would be a gig by:
J.S. Bach, Marcel Dupre and Olivier Messiaen head-to-head in an organ-improvisation-off on the pipe-organ-in-the-kauri-forest at Terry Stringer's Zealandia sculpture garden. That'd be pretty jazz.
But if there's nothing else doing I'll probably just:
Catch up on whatever theatre/music/dance event in Auckland I've been waiting for a free night to see.
On my stereo/headphones right now is:
Bjork and Meredith Monk. Two terrifically creative, adventurous, and zany women.
The books I can't put down are:
Anything by Alex Ross - after devouring The Rest is Noise I have started on his collection of articles, Listen to This.
The TV show I take the phone off the hook for:
I never watch TV; however Downton Abbey warrants a notable exception.
The movie I've been dying to see:
The Artist, because human beings tend to sound quite ridiculous as soon as they open their mouths. Or The Muppets, because talking puppets are a lot less ridiculous than talking people.
A non-cooking Monday night means takeaways from:
Renkon.
Or a splash-out Wednesday night restaurant would be:
Anywhere with a sea view.
