May isn't far off, which means New Zealand Music Month show announcements are about to come flooding in.
To kick things off, Dave Dobbyn has announced a New Zealand tour with a twist - not only will he be performing, but he's invited an array of local songwriters, new and established, to perform with him in a series called Stories Old and New.
They will join him on stage to perform their favourite Dobbyn songs, and in return he'll join his guests in performing one of theirs, which should result in some compelling interpretations.
The tour starts at The Bedford in Christchurch on May 11, where Dobbyn is joined by Marlon Williams, Aaron Tokona, Paul Ubana Jones, Scribe, The Eastern's Adam McGrath, Terrible Sons, and The Lappelles. Then he moves on to The Paddington in Auckland, where he'll invite The Bads, SJD, Jordan Luck, Anna Coddington, Graham Brazier, Peter Urlich, Jesse Sheehan, Jan Hellriegel, Glass Owls, and Inter-Soul, on to the stage. He'll finish with performances in Wellington and Masterton on May 25 and 26, at The Bodega and King Street respectively, where guests will include Warren Maxwell, Wayne Mason, Iva Lamkum and Thomas Oliver.
