KEY POINTS:
The reunited Supergroove might be in rehearsal for their star-studded soul-inspired Crosstown Revue show at the Civic next month but the band is heading further even back into their history. They'll be playing under their original moniker, The Lowdown Dirty Blues Band, as part of a tribute show to the late Sonny Day on August 17.
The veteran soul-blues musician died a year ago this weekend and the following weekend's nine-hour concert, featuring a who's who of New Zealand blues at the Broadway Pub and Cafe in Newmarket will be a chance for friends to give Day a musical farewell - and for his old band the Sundowners to play one last show together. Proceeds will go to Day's family.
Meanwhile, next stop for Supergroove vocalist Che Fu is a show backed by the Vector Wellington Orchestra at the capital's Michael Fowler Centre on September 13.
