It’s NZ Music Month and the Herald has partnered with NZ On Screen to bring you a music video of a classic New Zealand song every day of the month. Today’s flashback is Shona Laing’s biggest international single.
Today's Music Month Flashback is Glad I'm Not a Kennedy by Shona Laing.
Initially avoided by radio stations (who were uncomfortable with the title), the song ended up becoming Laing's biggest international solo single - number two in New Zealand and number 14 in the US rock charts.
The music video juxtaposes native beaches, brutalist architecture and poignant archival footage of the ill-fated President himself.
