This long-in-development update of the 60s TV show throws a lot at the wall, but only some of it sticks. Seth Rogen stars as wayward newspaper scion Britt Reid who, after his magnate father's death, teams up with a gifted mechanic (Taiwanese pop star Jay Chou) to fight crime in LA. It elicits some laughs, but Rogen's shouty petulance often seems out of place in the superhero genre. It's definitely his most conventional movie, but director Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) enhances the proceedings with his inventive visual gimmickry. Entertaining but in no way memorable.
