Rating: 3/5
This bizarre Finnish comedy horror doesn't live up to the appealing central concept, but has more than enough points of difference to warrant interest. According to legend, the real Santa Claus is from the Korvatunturi mountains in Northern Finland. When some miners begin excavating the big man's resting place, the son of a local farmer decides to take action. Rare Exports features some remarkable scenery and more than one truly unique set-piece. The lack of anything resembling a traditional approach to a Christmas story is appreciable, and our low-rent heroes get some awesomely rousing moments. The resolution comes a little too easily, but you're not likely to forget this film in a hurry.
