Despite lacking the surprise factor its predecessor used so effectively, this follow-up to last year's low-budget smash hit proves the superior viewing experience.
Once again, a suburban home comes under attack from mysterious forces. To describe how this connects to the first film would spoil some of the fun, but they tie together nicely. As in Paranormal Activity, everything we see on-screen is presented as "found footage", but the scope here is expanded to include home-security cameras, and the stakes are ratcheted up by the presence of a baby in the house.
This is a clear cash-in on the unexpected success of the original, but that doesn't make it any less freaky.
