After several flops, the Farrelly brothers (There's Something About Mary) try to reclaim their status as kings of the gross-out sex comedy with this scatological outing starring Owen Wilson. He plays a father of three whose wife (The Office's Jenna Fischer) gives him a "week off" from his marriage to do anything he wants. Despite the fact that no character ever once behaves like a human being, there is some mirth, mainly from the evenly-spaced, gross-out set-pieces. Wilson seems miscast as a suburban "realtor", but his natural empathy shines through. Ricky Gervais collaborator Stephen Merchant (Extras) makes an impression in his few scenes, and Saturday Night Live star Jason Sudeikis proves a game co-star, enduring some of the film's less-dignified gags.
