Needless to say the focus was taken off Grande's album, My Everything, which she was supposed to be promoting.
Grande is the newest - and one of the youngest - celebrities to jump aboard the diva bandwagon.
From humidifiers and oxygen tanks to personalised helicopters and mannequins with pink pubic hair, here are 18 of the most outrageous and sometimes quirky star requests.
Mariah Carey
The songstress is probably the definition of "diva" by anyone's standards. But her most outlandish demand would have to be her reported insistence in 2009 that 20 white kittens and 100 white doves be released while she turned on the Christmas lights at London's Westfield Shopping Centre. Health hazards got in the way of that wish, but Westfield accommodated her request to roll out the pink carpet and shower the crowd with pink and white butterfly-shaped confetti.
Jennifer Lopez
She doesn't want you to be fooled by the rocks that she's got. But in 2010 J-Lo requested a custom-fitted ferry, complete with faux leather seats, a champagne fridge and a pair of diamond-encrusted headphones to take her from Cannes to Monaco. Lopez also reportedly likes everything in her dressing room to be white, including chair covers, white roses and white candles. Her coffee must be stirred counter-clockwise.
Barbra Streisand
The legendary singer reportedly demanded peach-coloured toilet rolls to match her complexion, and rose petals in the toilet bowl during a UK tour in 2007.
Streisand also requested 150 designer bathroom towels also in peach and insisted her security team wear "neat dark sweaters".

Lady Gaga has no problem playing herself up as completely bonkers. And she didn't disappoint on her 2010 Monster Ball tour when she requested a mannequin with puffy pink pubic hair. On her current ArtRave: The Artpop Ball tour, Gaga has reportedly asked for an oxygen tank in her dressing room, along with peanut butter containing flax seeds but no more than four grams of sugar.

Britney Spears
The walking paradox. The troubled pop star banned all fast food during her 2010 Femme Fatale tour, along with miniature gyms and air humidifiers. By the time she got to London she was requesting portions of fish and chips. And a photo of Princess Diana. Everyone needs one of those.
Marilyn Manson
The shock rocker requested a bald hooker with no teeth in his dressing room. Say no more.
David Hasselhoff
The Hoff never confirmed whether or not he was joking when he asked for a life-sized cut-out of himself in his dressing room. Regardless, Baywatch fans will be pleased to know they can buy one of these online.
Kanye West

The rapper is on J Lo's all-white bandwagon, and also reportedly insists that imported Versace towels are always on hand. His drivers wear clothes made from 100 per cent cotton only.
Kim Kardashian
Despite being an Instagram queen and thriving off the publicity of her reality show, Mrs West and her sister Kourtney went to extreme lengths to protect their privacy on a 2012 visit to London. According to reports, everyone who came into contact with them were asked to use pseudonyms for the pair in a bid to keep their trip secret.
Madonna
The Material Girl is the undisputed Queen of Pop, and she lived up to her royal title during her 2010 world tour, reportedly ordering a brand new toilet seat every night in her dressing room. But the request to ban air conditioning in every venue to protect her vocal chords takes the cake. Some fans at her 2006 Confessions world tour in London started fainting as temperatures inside the arena climbed past 30 degrees.
Katy Perry

The California Gurls singer's dream dressing room must have cream-coloured egg chairs. One with a foot stool. And a fridge with a glass door, which one can only presume is so the contents can be ... watched at all times? Perry also specifies "absolutely no carnations". Safe to say she's firmly anti-carnation.
Rihanna
In 2012 the Umbrella singer screamed "Don't you know who I am?" as she was escorted out of a London nightclub for jumping on a table and shattering glass. Reports claim Rihanna is generally a nightmare to work for due to her diva attitude which has given birth to demands that her dressing room be warmed to exactly 73 degrees Fahrenheit, and be fit with three humidifiers, white furnishings and towels.
Beyonce
She's right at the top of the pecking order in the pop world, and during her Mrs Carter Show world tour Beyonce banned press photographers, and demanded her own personalised helicopters and a dressing room big enough to accommodate an entire sports team.
Van Halen
If us plebs were divas we'd probably be the Van Halen kind. According to reports, the rock band infamously demanded bowls of M&Ms with the brown ones removed.
Tom Cruise
In 2012 Cruise asked the manager of five-star hotel Forza Mare in Montenegro to clear out all 10 rooms so he could enjoy his dinner alone in silence. The request was declined - Cruise ate alone on his yacht. As you do.
Nicki Minaj

The rapper usually has her diva crown on, and that was no different when she was dining at a Hollywood restaurant recently and had someone leave to get her a bottle of A1 Steak Sauce. On the way out Minaj told TMZ she always uses A1.
Justin Timberlake
He mightn't seem like a diva at first glance, but the Sexy Back singer reportedly requires someone to disinfect doorknobs that he touches every two hours. Germaphobe much?
Christina Aguilera
The singer takes traffic annoyance to a new level, and requests a police escort lead her limo to the airport while on tour because she dislikes sitting in traffic.
