dramatic car crash last

year.

Details are sketchy, but several

reports

say crash victim Demaris Meyer, who was the passenger in his car at the time, is about to reveal all about the incident and her relationship to the actor.

Meyer has been the subject of widespread rumours that she was allegedly Freeman's mistress.

What fuelled the gossip mills was the fact that the identity of the passenger was revealed to be Meyer - not his wife, Myrna Colley-Lee - coupled with the revelation two days after the crash that Freeman was to

divorce his wife

of 24 years. Which doesn't really prove a frig at the end of the day.

Freeman and his lady companion were involved in a horrific crash near the actor's home in Charleston, Mississippi in August, where their car veered off the road and flipped over several times before landing in a ditch.

Meyer, who was described as a "family friend" at the time of the crash, will hold a press conference today and announce, among other things, whether she was the "other woman" in Freeman's life.

According to

TMZ.com

, high-profile celebrity lawyer Gloria Allred has issued a press release to the media, promising to "tell the truth about whether or not she [Meyer] was the 'other woman' in an intimate relationship with then-married actor Morgan Freeman when she was seriously injured as he was driving her car late at night."

"Graphic and disturbing photos" of the accident will also be revealed according to Allred, which will no doubt be used to explain Meyer's injuries.

Freeman was also injured during the mysterious car crash in which he was driving, sustaining a broken arm, broken elbow, and shoulder damage. He told

Access Hollywood

last month that he still wasn't able to use his left hand due to the surgery he had to have.

We're just a little baffled that it's taken six months for the victim to pipe up, and when she does, it's during a headline-baiting press conference? Shady.

Stay tuned for the big reveal...or not, as the case may be.

UPDATE:

Demaris Meyer, the passenger who was with Morgan Freeman on the night of his car crash, says

she was never romantically involved with the actor

, and is suing him for negligence.

"I have been labeled as the other woman and have been accused of having caused the breakup of Mr. Freeman's marriage," Meyer said.

"Nothing could be further from the truth. I had hoped and prayed that Mr. Freeman or his representatives would have set the record straight and cleared my name, but they have not done so and that is why I have chosen to come forward to tell the truth about our relationship."

Speaking at a press conference today, Meyer said she has filed a lawsuit against Freeman, suing for medical expenses, pain and suffering, loss of income, permanent disability (short term memory loss) and other damages.

Other sensational new details have also emerged regarding the Freeman-Meyer lawsuit. According to court documents filed yesterday at the Mississippi federal court, crash victim Meyer alleges the actor was drinking in the hours before the crash.

state Meyer claims she met Freeman on the night of the accident during a dinner party and that "throughout the course of dinner and afterward drinks were consumed by Freeman".

She later met with him at a friend's home, where she alleges Freeman "had at least one more drink."

Following that encounter, Meyer claims Freeman invited her to his home so that she "would have an easier drive to work the next morning."

Meyer claims that on the way to his home, "Freeman lost control of the car, entered the left lane of traffic, over corrected his steering and ran off the right side of the highway."

Freeman's mouthpiece said, "We're confident this will all be resolved".
