KEY POINTS:
Patrick Swayze returned to work yesterday, according to news reports.
The 55-year-old actor, who was rumoured to be dying after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer earlier this year, looked tanned and healthy as he arrived on the Chicago set of US TV show The Beast.
The Ghost star, who was accompanied by his wife Lisa Niemi, laughed and joked with the crew throughout the shoot.
After filming had wrapped, Patrick and Lisa enjoyed a quiet meal at health food restaurant Grocer and Goddess.
One waitress said: "At first I had no idea he was here. He came in wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses, very low-key. After a while, I worked out who he was and I must say he was an absolute gentleman."
Earlier this month, Patrick - who has been steadily putting on weight and sticking to a diet of fresh fruit and vegetables - said his recovery was a "miracle".
He added: "I'm cooking. I'm a miracle dude. I don't know why.
"I'm doing really well. I feel really good. I've put on 20lbs. I should be dead right now. Look at me - I'm a miracle!"
Since his cancer diagnosis in January, Patrick has been undergoing pioneering Cyberknife radiotherapy at California's Stamford University
Medical Centre.
In The Beast, Patrick plays an unorthodox FBI agent being pursued by a secret Internal Affairs team.
The programme is set to air in the US next year.
