Minogue gives birth

Dannii Minogue's boyfriend has thanked fans for their "kind words" following the birth of the couple's first child.

Model Kris Smith and the Australian star welcomed baby Ethan Edward Smith into the world in Melbourne, on Monday and the couple have been amazed by the amount of messages they have received from well-wishers.

Kris, 31, tweeted: "On behalf of the 3 of us I would like to thank you all for your kind words and best wishes. It means a lot to us. X (sic)"

Alexandra Burke - who won the 2008 series of Simon Cowell's pop star search show The X Factor, on which Dannii is a judge and mentor - also took to her twitter page to congratulate the 38-year-old brunette on her new arrival.

The Bad Boys singer wrote: "Congrats babe on your new baby boy! Hope all is well and I can't wait to see you soon. Big kiss xxx. (sic)"

Before the baby was born, Dannii and Kris bought a two-storey property in Melbourne, where Dannii grew up, so they can be near the starlet's family, parents Ron and Carol and Dannii's cameraman brother Brendan - who has two sons Charles and James.

Her pop superstar sister Kylie is currently in Spain promoting her latest album Aphrodite, but is expected to be flying Down Under as soon as possible to meet her nephew.
