Forget the moon landing. The biggest conspiracy theory swirling around the internet at the moment is about a cartoon cowgirl.
Last year, American blogger Jon Negroni suggested all 14 Pixar feature films exist in the same animated universe. He now has some surprising ideas about the Toy Story franchise -Negroni thinks, the mother of lead character Andy, is the original owner of cowgirl toy, Jessie.
He explains his theory in detail on his blog, but the basic premise comes down to a similarity between the worn-out cowboy hat Andy wears, and one worn in flashbacks to Jessie's past life by then-owner Emily.
On his blog, he asks why Andy wears a hat like Jessie's, not like his favourite toy, Woody. Is it because Jessie's old owner (his mum) kept it to pass on to her kids?
Negroni suggests there are other pointers as well; the flashback to Jessie's former owner fits the time Emily would have been a child, and the two share a similar hair cut.
"Here's what we know for sure: We don't know the first name of Andy's mom. We don't know Emily's last name. We know that Andy's hat and Emily's hat are the same. We know that Emily is old enough to be Andy's mom. We definitely know that Pixar is perfectly capable of sneaking this in without being overt about it," he writes on his blog.
Negroni also thinks the way Jessie was given away years before could tie in to Andy and Woody's changing relationship for a fourth Toy Story film.
