"Even when we started out DJing, we never would have thought that a couple of years down the track we would be releasing an album through Universal because it's just not a thing that DJs did back in the day," Lye says.
The album is their second compilation record, F.U.N. 2.
They started playing clubs together for fun and kept getting booked for parties even though they say they weren't much good in the beginning.
As their popularity grew, they got some coaching from a DJ friend who taught them how to mix and soon discovered that becoming a good DJ took skill.
"When he started to show us the ins and the outs, and the fact this thing called BPM (beats per minute) even existed, it totally threw us because we were just playing whatever we thought sounded good," Lye says.
The pair now thrive on creating a fun party vibe, which is why they've been hired to support major stars such as Rita Ora and N.E.R.D. while on tour Downunder.
The Faders have also played at Australian award shows and at the after-parties, which is where they saw Taylor Swift busting moves.
"At the beginning of the night ... . literally no one was dancing except Taylor Swift and her dancers and they were like 'this is so much fun' and we were saying 'oh my God' under the table," Gattegno says.
It's Lye who spills the beans on Swift's dance moves. "She was cute, awkward but cute," she says.
Now they're warming up the crowd on Miley Cyrus' tour. "When it came out that we were supporting Miley Cyrus everyone was ringing us and our social media was going crazy. Everyone was saying 'this is one of the biggest things you guys are going to get to do'," Gattegno says.
So what is the girls' secret to their success as disc spinners? "We just like anything that has a really fun party vibe, anything we can party to or dance to, we're into," says Lye.
