Cyrus was bundled into a black Mercedes at the back entrance and quickly sped off to a hotel in the city, thought to be the Pullman.
So quick was her departure that she left her luggage at the airport for her team to pick up.
Cyrus was cutting it fine to get to New Zealand. She took in some late-night partying at celeb hotspot The Roxy in Los Angeles on Monday before hopping on a 12-hour flight.
Such is the excitement for tonight's concerts that some on social media had thought they spotted the star in Auckland before her plane touched down.
Fans of the 21-year-old will be hoping for a typically irreverent display of twerking, tonguing and typically raunchy ensembles on stage.

The Wrecking Ball singer has local paparazzi on high alert. They're eager to get pics of her falling out of a nightclub or lunching in the sun on Auckland's waterfront.
This afternoon she was headed to the Grey Lynn headquarters of the fashion retailer Stolen Girlfriends Club for private viewing.
Insiders say her stay will be fleeting - she'll be jetting to Melbourne for her next gig on Friday.
Fans have been sharing locations in Auckland to possibly catch a glimpse of her on Twitter before her concert.
Miley's assistant posted a photo of a view of central Auckland to Instagram, which sparked rumours that Miley had arrived in Auckland.
When photos of her leaving a Paloma Faith concert in Los Angeles surfaced on the Daily Mail website it appeared the fans' efforts had been in vain.
Miley is performing her Bangerz tour in Auckland tomorrow before touring Australia. She has just finished a stint touring in South America.

Next week, Justin Timberlake graces our shores with three gigs at Vector Arena.
He turned down A$2 million ($2.24 million), a private jet and free advertising to perform three songs at Sunday's NRL grand final.
The Grammy winner, in Australia for his 20/20 Experience world tour, spurned the NRL's offer in favour of spending time with his wife, Hollywood actress Jessica Biel.
