Mike Puru is shifting from the shopping channel to primetime. The Edge Breakfast show presenter has been announced as the host of TV3's reality show The Bachelor.
"I'm really excited about this series," he says. "It's the perfect combination of drama and fun and no doubt it's going to make for addictive viewing," says Puru.
"After 20 years on The Edge, I've seen a lot of weddings and I know how intense the search for love can be. I can't wait to be part of this series - the highs, the lows, the drama and everything in between."
Puru currently splits his time between his radio commitments and spruiking goods on informercial channels.
The American format of the dating game show is more than a decade old but the TV3 production is the first time it's been done in New Zealand. A group of competing women must vie for the affections of a single eligible male via a series of dates.
