The hotly anticipated first video from
Michael Jackson's
posthumous
Michael
album has been released.
Jackson's
Akon
-assisted
Hold My Hand
hit the net this morning, debuting on the late singer's
.
The video opens with a montage of fans screaming, "love you, Michael!", while releasing a bunch of balloons in the air. Cue montage of classic MJ clips, impersonations, children playing and smiling, the glove, his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame...yep, it's a classic Worther's Original moment. It's
very
MJ.
Of the promo, director
Mark Pellington
says: "The video is a tribute to all that Michael stands for - life, in all its permutations... love, and its power. A video of memory, healing and joy."
Hold My Hand
is the first from the 10-song posthumous CD,
Michael
, set to drop on December 14.
And there's more...
More previously unheard material from MJ is to be released, according to one of his producers.
Teddy Riley
, who oversaw three songs on
Michael
, says he is already signed up to work on the 'new' material.
"I look forward to doing the next one and I'm glad I'm on board," he told
.
"We will not do anything with bad character and it will be him," Riley said of the upcoming project.
"It's not about the money it's about making sure everything is right."
The release of
Michael
has caused some major contention between Jackson family members and Sony Records. Jackson's brother
Randy
recently questioned the authenticity of the upcoming album, insisting his brother's vocals do not feature on all of the songs.
"Some of the songs are him, and some aren't," he wrote on
. "I would bet my life on that. I know this may seem harsh, but this is the truth, as I know it."
Sony maintains that the new album is authentic, and recently released a
offering proof that the vocals are legitimate.
Riley, who worked on Jackson's 1991 album
Dangerous
, also maintains the album is one hundred per cent MJ.
"No one could ever duplicate Michael," he said, adding, "he had different textures of voices. These particular vocals were how he felt when he worked with the Casios [keyboards].
"Different styles and different places of Michael. Truthfully, I love my songs.
"It's what he [Jackson] would have expected us to do. If he was here he would have pushed us even more. It's an incredible record.
"The family reap the benefits from this."
Mick Jagger doesn't do marriages
Like it needed saying, eh,
Jerry Hall
?
Mick Jagger
says he has no immediate plans to wed his girlfriend
L'Wren Scot
, because he thinks marriage is a crock.
He tells the
New York Times
magazine, "I don't really subscribe to a completely normal view of what relationships should be. I have a bit more of a bohemian view.
"To be honest, I don't really think much of marriage. I'm not saying it's not a wonderful thing and people shouldn't do it, but it's not for me. And not for quite a few other people too, it would appear. I just think it's perhaps not quite what it's cracked up to be. I know it's an elaborate fantasy."
Or a living hell, according to Hall. Take the shame you naughty boy.
Jagger also had a thinly-veilled jab at his bandmate
Keith Richards
for releasing an autobiography.
"Personally, I think it's really quite tedious raking over the past," he said. "Mostly, people only do it for money."
Asked if he'd ever consider releasing his own memoirs, he said "You don't want to end up like some old footballer in a pub, talking about how he made the cross in the cup final in 1964."
Touché!
Slammer time
Wesley Snipes
has surrendered to authorities and begun a three-year prison sentence for tax evasion.
Traci Billingsley
, Chief Public Information Officer for the Bureau of Prisons, TMZ, "Wesley Snipes has self surrendered to the minimum security Federal Prison Camp at the Federal Correctional Institution McKean, in Bradford, Pennsylvania."
Snipes had recently requested to delay his incarceration so that he could spend Christmas with his children.
No dice, said a judge presiding over his case.
Oh dear. I wonder if they serve sprouts in the clink? Sprouts AND jail...now there's a penance.
Check out Snipe's new crib
. Cosy, but lose the magnolia. Overkill.
